Watercolour Snowmen for Co-workers

I painted some watercolour pics of snowmen and put them into glittery frames. They were little and cute and made an inexpensive gift for my co-workers this year. Part card and part gift!

Snowmen on the Piano

This year most of our little Snow People got to be on the piano in the living room,

I'm Keeping this Blog

I was going to just forget about this blog, and I have not posted here for 4 years!!!!!!

Anything I had to say was showing up in my other forms of social media, and I felt like this blog seemed redundant. Then this past Holiday season, I looked back here over and over again for recipes and pictures of some of the decor and thought that, even for me, this is handy to have.

It helps me keep our traditions alive and is somewhere to record new experiences and recipes. I will gradually upload some pics from the last several years, some pics of this year's decor and a few recipes I keep misplacing. I think I might put the same posts on my main blog, Leading a Healthy Life, so please forgive me for any redundancy you might find.

It will primarily stay a seasonal blog, but I will try to celebrate Rudolph Day and record something here. Have you heard about Rudolph day? It is when people take the 25th day of each month and try and do something Christmassy. They try out recipes for the following Christmas, shop for and wrap presents, and maybe do some holiday crafting. It is somewhere between celebrating Christmas throughout the year and being very organized for the following holiday season.

Please join me here at the end of each month for a bit of an update and then weekly after November 12th, 2023!

Welcome to Christmas 2018

I am excited to report that we managed to pack up all of our Fall and Halloween decorations by November 10th. Usually, we have lingering hints of previous holidays overlapping with my first attempts to dig out the Christmas Stuff so this feels like a very good start to the Holiday Season!

We live in Canada so we have already celebrated Thanksgiving and we don't have another family birthday until January so I am totally ready to focus on planning for Christmas 2018.

Bob and I are singing in the Scandinavian Choir once again this year. The theme is a winter sleigh ride so I feel all primed for the winter holidays since we are already into month 3 of learning a snowy, frosty, wintery set of songs. One song that keeps running through my head is called Season of Dreams music by David Angerman words by Joseph Martin. It has a line that goes "Oh, this is the season for hope, a season for sharing, caring. All the world's aglow" and I think that would be a wonderful theme for us during this years holiday.

My goal is to write on this blog every Saturday evening until mid-January.  I might sneak in an extra post or two and share some extra ideas in the middle of the week just for fun!

I hope you join me as I share our joy during this Season of  Dreams.

Taking Down the Cards

I was taking down the Christmas Cards and thought that I should really take a quick picture of what I use. Not the best pictures but it should give an idea. I love getting cards but I must admit it takes a lot to get me to finish making out cards myself and then getting postage and then mailing them!

This wire holder looks pretty nice without the cards but as the cards get added in it becomes more colorful and filled with the warm wishes of the friends and family giving us the cards.

Gingerbread Cake

I made Gingerbread at home with the grandson and I made it at work too. I really like this recipe or maybe anything that is an excuse to add whipping cream. Really it has a nice spice balance and a truly old fashioned taste. My seniors really enjoyed it as a sensory experience and it brought back a bunch of memories. I am not sure why Ginger "bread" isn't made much anymore. People think that they are about to get a rather hard cookie when you offer Gingerbread.

I am so sorry I didn't take a picture.
